a farmer’s reward

20110701-125142.jpgi may work insanely hard, but I also eat very well. today’s lunch is full on summer deliciousness: quinoa parsley tabouleh, marinated golden beets, and sautéed broccoli, zucchini and yukina savoy, all on a bed of arugula and topped with wild caught salmon and a hard-boiled pastured egg from next door. yum!

    Inspiringly yummy looking, but what is yakina?

      yukina savoy is an asian vegetable in the mustard family. it looks like tatsoi, but with savoyed (wrinkly) leaves. the leaves are dark green and the ribs and stems are white. this is the first year i have grown and eaten it, and i really like it. it’s also beautiful, growing in a big rosette. we were joking in the packing shed that they would make good wedding bouquets.
