of bees and flower petals

July 12, 2011

since i love flowers and am a beekeeper, it’s not surprising that my friend julie would share this story from npr with me. unlike honey bees, it seems there is no division of labor with this newly discovered bee species. just the solitary mama bee collecting flower petals to build her nests, gathering food, laying the eggs and sealing them up for the new bees to grow. a fascinating account illustrated by beautiful photos.
